Yogyakarta, February 10, 2026 – Gadjah Mada University held the Professorial Inauguration Ceremony for Prof. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec, as a Full Professor in the Field of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management. This moment marks an important milestone in his academic journey and in his scholarly contributions to the development of Indonesia’s agricultural economy.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Jangkung emphasized that food self-sufficiency is a strategic foundation for national sovereignty and welfare. Food is not merely viewed as an economic commodity but also possesses strong social, political, and cultural dimensions. Amid global uncertainties such as climate change, supply chain disruptions, and price fluctuations, a self-reliant food system is key to ensuring a country does not depend on external parties. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of improving farmers’ welfare through enhanced market access, more efficient input costs, and adequate infrastructure support, using a cross-sectoral approach. read more

Supporting the Impactful Internship Process Through Phase I Monitoring

The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture conducted the Phase I Impactful Internship Monitoring session on Thursday, March 5, 2026, online with each student’s respective internship advisor. This activity plays a crucial role in ensuring that the internship program aligns with learning objectives and provides students with relevant real-world work experience.

The monitoring involved discussing students’ adaptation processes, the alignment of internship activities with their academic coursework, the variety of tasks performed, and the challenges encountered during the internship. In general, students demonstrated strong adaptability across various institutions, actively participating in administrative, operational, marketing, and field activities. However, several areas for improvement were also noted, including the need to align tasks with learning outcomes, strengthen technical skills, and maintain discipline in completing logbooks and preparing reports. read more

Second Graduation Ceremony of the 2025/2026 Academic Year: Four Students from UGM’s EPA Program Officially Receive Their Bachelor’s Degrees

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) at Gadjah Mada University once again graduated its students during the Second Commencement Ceremony of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, held on February 25, 2026. During this ceremony, the EPA Department officially graduated four students who had completed their entire course of study.

During this period, one of the EPA Program graduates also achieved a notable accomplishment. Nadya Nur Fauzia, S.P., was honored as the department’s top graduate with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.87. This accomplishment serves as a testament to her dedication and consistency in pursuing her studies and is expected to inspire other students. read more

EPA UGM Students Participate in the Impactful Internship Program for the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 at 22 Partner Institutions

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) at Gadjah Mada University is once again conducting a student placement program as part of the Impactful Internship Program for the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. This program officially began on February 10, 2026, and is being participated in by 84 sixth-semester students, who will undergo off-campus learning through hands-on workplace experience. 

A total of 22 partner institutions are involved in this Impactful Internship Program, representing various sectors, including government agencies, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), private companies, and research institutions.  read more

Guest Lecture on Agricultural Business: From the Banking Sector to Sustainable Agriculture

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) at the Faculty of Agriculture once again hosted a Guest Lecture on Agricultural Business on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Under the theme “Quitting the Bank to Realize Sustainable Agriculture,” the event featured Mr. Theodorus Dedy Tri Kuncoro, S.Si, CEO of PT Bhumee Artani Nusantara, as the guest speaker. The lecture was moderated by Pinjung Nawang Sari, S.P., M.Sc., and attended by undergraduate students from the EPA program’s 2025 cohort. read more

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) at the Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University, held a Coaching Session for Laboratory Assistants for Genap Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year on Wednesday, February 5, 2026, at the MMA Auditorium in the Sosek Building. The event was attended by Asih Kusumaningsih, S.P., M.Sc., as the General Laboratory Coordinator; Dr. Hani Perwitasari, S.P., M.Sc., as the Head of the EPA Program; faculty members; and the Laboratory Assistant Team, consisting of undergraduate students from the EPA program, Master’s students in Agricultural Economics (MEP), and Master’s students in Agribusiness Management (MMA). read more

Guest Lecture for Agribusiness Management Course: Multitasking Media & Word of Mouth in Modern Marketing

Yogyakarta, November 26, 2025 – The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, held a Guest Lecture for the Agribusiness Management Course, featuring Prof. Wirawan Dony Dahana from The University of Osaka, Japan, as the guest speaker. This guest lecture, themed “Consumer Behavior,” aimed to enhance students’ understanding of modern marketing dynamics, particularly regarding consumer behavior in the digital age.

In his presentation titled “Marketing in the Digital Age: The Role of Media Multitasking and Word of Mouth,” Prof. Dony introduced the concept of Media Multitasking (MM), which refers to the simultaneous use of two or more media and its impact on advertising effectiveness, consumer visits to sales sites, and purchasing decisions. He emphasized that the influence of MM is not always negative. Research results show that the impact of multitasking greatly depends on consumer motives, such as efficiency, control over information, information needs, and habits. Analysis using a latent model shows that each motive produces different responses to advertising exposure, advertising repetition frequency, and media consumption context. read more

EPA 2025/2026 Practicum Assistant Coaching: Training Assistants in Supporting Practicum Learning

Yogyakarta, August 21, 2025 – The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, UGM, held a Coaching Assistant Practicum activity for the 2025/2026 odd semester. The event, held at the MMA Auditorium, Building A.10 Sosek, 3rd Floor, was attended by all laboratory assistants from the EPA program who will support the practical learning process this semester.

The event began with an opening ceremony, followed by a coaching session led by Asih Kusumaningsih, S.P., M.Sc., the laboratory coordinator. The session focused on the technical aspects of conducting laboratory sessions and the regulations that laboratory assistants must adhere to in performing their duties. read more

Undergraduate Course Coordination Meeting for the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program: Optimal Preparation for the New Semester

Yogyakarta, August 26, 2025 – As part of its commitment to maintaining educational quality, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Program regularly holds Undergraduate Course Coordination Meetings ahead of the start of each new semester. This activity is attended by all faculty members of the EPA Program as a platform to synchronize and update various essential aspects of the learning process.

In this coordination meeting, faculty members discussed and updated the Semester Program and Learning Activity Plan (RPKPS). Additionally, the meeting included a review and preparation of learning materials and assignments to be implemented for each course in the upcoming semester. Through this process, it is hoped that the learning process will be practical, innovative, and relevant to advancements in knowledge and student needs. read more

PKKB 2025 Village Project Socialization: Strengthening the Competencies of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Students

Yogyakarta, August 13, 2025 – The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) Study Program held a Proyek Desa (Village Project) Socialization activity as part of the 2025 Program Kompetisi Kampus Berdampak (PKKB). The event was attended by faculty members and students from the 2022 cohort of the EPA program, to introduce and prepare for the implementation of the Village Project, which will take place from August to October 2025.

The event began with a warm welcome from the Head of the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, Ir. Any Suryantini, M.M., Ph.D., who emphasized the importance of strengthening student competencies through practical field activities. Next, the presentation session was delivered by the program chair and Hariyani Dwi Anjani, S.P., M.Sc., as the Proyek Desa Coordinator. They explained the objectives, mechanisms, and expectations of the Village Project. The event continued with an active question-and-answer session from the students, demonstrating their high enthusiasm for the program. read more
