
Yogyakarta, April 25, 2025-In order to improve content production and news writing skills, the Department of Agricultural Social Economics (Sosek) Media Team consisting of Adinda, Adhika, April, Inay, Mila, Mirda, Manda, Dinda, and Arsya participated in the “Open Broadcaster Studio (OBS) and Article Writing Training” organized by the Faculty of Agriculture UGM on Friday (25/04/2025). Located in Co-working Space 1 AGLC 6th Floor, this training was attended by the Faculty Media Team and Media Teams from various departments.
The first session featured Mr. Ishadiyanto Salim, S.Pd., M.Pd., a lecturer in Agricultural Extension and Communication, who guided participants through training on the use of Open Broadcaster Studio (OBS) software. The participants practiced installing and operating OBS on their respective laptops, which is useful for live streaming and multimedia content production.
The activity continued with an article writing training session guided by Mrs. Desi Utami, S.P., M.Env.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Information and Media Systems Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture. In this session, participants were invited to understand the basic principles of news writing, techniques for compiling engaging narratives, and strategies for determining angles that match the characteristics of the campus audience.
Mrs. Desi also emphasized the importance of consistently producing journalistic content in the institution’s communication strategy. “This year, the Faculty of Agriculture targets the achievement of 2025 news publications as a form of documentation as well as dissemination of information on academic and non-academic activities within the faculty,” she said.
The active discussion during the session showed the participants’ enthusiasm. One participant was Adhika Hafizh, a Department of Social Sciences participant who asked questions about strategies for producing engaging and not monotonous news content.
The presence of the Department of Agricultural Social Economics Media Team in this activity is part of an effort to strengthen internal capacity, which will support the publication of more creative, dynamic, and professional departmental activities, especially those related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program.
