In an effort to strengthen the capacity of lecturers in the field of human resource management (HRM), the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, assigned two of its lecturers, Asih Kusumaningsih, S.P., M.Sc., and Pinjung Nawang Sari, S.P., M.Sc., to participate in the HR Manager Training and Certification program organized by a professional training institution in Yogyakarta.

The training was held on August 14–15, 2025, in person at the Malyhabara Hotel, Yogyakarta, with A. Noegroho Driprijanto, an experienced practitioner in the field of HR management, as the instructor. The activity continued with the BNSP Human Resource Manager Scheme certification on August 22, 2025, which was conducted online with assessor Dr. Aditya Nanda Priyatama, S.Psi., M.Si.

During the training, both lecturers studied 15 managerial competency units, including job description preparation, workload analysis, remuneration system design, and effective organizational communication. These competencies are not only crucial for human resource management in educational organizations, but also relevant in the context of agribusiness and agricultural economics, where efficient labor management is key to the success of the agricultural value chain from upstream to downstream.

Through this training and certification, lecturers are expected to be able to implement the principles of Human Capital Management in academic activities, research, and community service. This knowledge and these skills can also be transferred to students, especially in Human Resource Management learning, so that they are better prepared to face the world of work and manage agriculture-based businesses. This staff development program is one of the implementations of the Impactful Campus Competition Program (PKKB) from the Higher Education Database Center (PDDIKTI).

This activity is in line with UGM’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically: SDG 4 (Quality Education) through increasing the capacity of educators; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by strengthening human resource competencies in the agribusiness sector; and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the application of modern management practices in the agricultural industry.
