Yogyakarta, June 11, 2025 – As part of the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, carried out monitoring and evaluation activities for internship students at Perum Perhutani. In the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, five students from the UGM Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program participated in the internship program in two locations: two students at Perum Perhutani Headquarters (Jakarta) and three students at Perum Perhutani North Kedu Regional Division (Central Java).
A team of supervisors monitors and evaluates activities to ensure that the learning process at the internship site runs in accordance with MBKM’s objectives. This activity also aims to directly observe student learning achievements, challenges faced in the field, and contributions to operational activities in partner companies. During several months of internship, students have been actively involved in various aspects of Perhutani’s activities, ranging from forest resource management, data analysis, and forestry agribusiness development to value chain analysis and forest product marketing systems.
Through this activity, students are expected to gain real experience in the world of work, broaden their horizons in the fields of forestry economics and agribusiness, and build soft skills relevant to industry needs. In addition, the cooperation between UGM and Perum Perhutani is a form of synergy in supporting collaborative learning and improving the quality of graduates ready to enter the professional world.
The study program hopes that this internship and monitoring activity can continue to be developed, both in scale and quality, to support the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 15 (Maintaining Terrestrial Ecosystems) through strengthening the capacity of human resources in the sustainable agriculture and forestry sector.
