Sleman, April 26, 2025 – The month of Syawal is a meaningful moment, especially for the big family of the Department of Social Economics (Sosek), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada. On Saturday, April 26, 2025, a warm atmosphere full of family felt thick in the Syawalan event held at Sendang Ayu, Kalasan, Sleman, with the theme “Sucikan hati, rajut silaturahmi, tingkatkan kolaborasi dan sinergi.” This event became a gathering place for active lecturers, retired lecturers, and education staff to strengthen the post-Ramadan relationship.

The activity began with the opening by the MC, Inayatun Nuraini, and Nazla Amanda Kamila as part-timers of the EPA Study Program. Furthermore, the atmosphere was more solemn when the holy verses of the Qur’an were chanted along with the translation. This was a reminder that spiritual values remain the foundation of personal and professional life.

As part of the main series, the Head of the Department of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Jangkung Handoyo Mulyo, M.Ec., gave an inspiring speech. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy among all department elements and invited all parties to continue working and maintaining a family spirit for mutual progress.

The event then continued with a heartfelt moment of giving mementos to two retired lecturers, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sunarru Samsi Hariadi, M.S., and Prof. Dr. Ir. Masyhuri. Through this moment, the Department of Social and Political Sciences expressed its highest appreciation for their dedication and extraordinary service.

In his speech, Prof. Sunarru expressed his gratitude and thanks to all his colleagues. He also shared his experiences and reflections during his tenure while delivering a message to continue to maintain integrity and a spirit of building.

The atmosphere deepened when Drs. H. Agus Triyanta, M.A., M.H., Ph.D., gave a lecture. In his presentation, he emphasized that the challenges ahead require academic people who are not only intellectually intelligent but also strong in character and innovative in spirit.

“Do good, and you will reap good” – Drs. H. Agus Triyanta, M.A., M.H., Ph.D.

As a symbol of joint commitment, all participants simultaneously recited the Syawalan pledge, marking the determination to maintain harmony and support each other in togetherness. A warm moment was then created in the handshake session, which strengthened the inner connection between fellow civitas.

The event was closed with a group photo session and a meal together, presenting a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. The dishes were enjoyed in a fluid atmosphere and full of laughter, strengthening the sense of brotherhood among all participants.

Although packaged in a family atmosphere, this event also supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in supporting inclusive and quality education, strengthening peaceful and participatory institutions, and encouraging collaboration between elements in the academic environment. Through this Syawalan moment, the family spirit that has been established can continue to be maintained. Hopefully, this event will become a foothold for more solid cooperation and productive steps. Let’s continue synergizing, sharing, and growing as a big family in the Department of Social Sciences.
