Integration of Drone Technology in Agribusiness: EPA Lecturers Enhance Competence

The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) Study Program held a Drone Training on Monday, July 7, 2025, offline at the Policy Room, Building A2.a, 4th Floor, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. The event was attended by EPA program faculty members, with internal program speakers Gilang Wirakusuma, S.P., M.Sc., and Arif Wahyu Widada, S.P., M.Sc.

During the training, the speakers presented materials ranging from an introduction to drones, regulations and guidelines for their use, to proper operating procedures. After receiving the explanations, the lecturers directly practiced using drones at the Fisheries Field of the Faculty of Agriculture. Through this practical session, participants not only learned about the technical aspects of drone control but also understood the benefits and potential applications of drones in the field of agribusiness. Drones can be utilized for mapping rice fields, measuring crop stands, monitoring plant growth and health, and managing agricultural land more efficiently and precisely. read more

MAX DEA Training for EPA Program Lecturers

Yogyakarta, July 3, 2025 – The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) Study Program held an online MAX DEA training session via Zoom Meeting, attended by lecturers. The event featured Mr. Abi Pratiwa Siregar, S.P., M.Sc., as the speaker, who has experience in using the MAX DEA software for efficiency and productivity analysis.
The training aimed to enhance faculty members’ capacity in utilizing the MAX DEA software as a tool for Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), which is widely used in research fields such as economics, agriculture, and management. read more

EPA Students Secure PKM-PM 2025 Funding with Environmentally Friendly Corn Briquette Innovation

Another proud achievement has been secured by students of the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) Study Program. The Student Creativity Program – Community Service (PKM-PM) 2025, comprising Laluna Lena (EPA 2023), Asyifa Nur Afanie (EPA 2023), Anisa Eka Zakiya (EPA 2023), and two other students from different programs, has successfully secured funding for the PKM-PM 2025 program.

The title of the program is “BIJAK – Empowering the PKK of Kalimundu Village through the Utilization of Corn Cob Agricultural Waste into Briquettes with Optimized Calorific Burning”. This program, supervised by Hariyani Dwi Anjani, S.P., M.Sc., focuses on community empowerment through the innovative utilization of agricultural waste. Corn cob waste, which has previously been underutilized, is processed into environmentally friendly briquettes that have economic value while supporting household energy efficiency. Additionally, this initiative aims to enhance the capacity of the PKK group in managing local resources sustainably. read more

Practical Training Evaluation for the EPA Program, Even Semester 2025/2026

Yogyakarta, June 19, 2025 – The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (EPA) Study Program conducted the Practical Training Evaluation Activity for the 2025/2026 Even Semester on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the MMA Auditorium, Building A.10 Sosek, 3rd Floor. The event was attended by Practicum Coordinators and Practicum Assistants who have actively supported the smooth operation of the practicum process during the current semester.

During the event, each practicum assistant from various courses was allowed to present evaluations, experiences, and suggestions for improvement based on the practicum activities that had taken place. Additionally, practicum coordinators provided input and strategic guidance to ensure that practicum activities in the following semester would run more smoothly, effectively, and in line with students’ learning needs. read more

The lecture, themed “Human Resource Management at PTPN IV: Opportunities and Challenges in Managing Gen Z,” featured Dr. R. Turino Januar Budyanto, A.Md, SE., M.Psi., as the Head of the HR Policy and Development Division at PTPN IV PalmCo, who is also an experienced academic and practitioner in the field of human resource management. read more

Guest Lecture on Agricultural Management and Economics: Indonesia and Global Macroeconomic Conditions – Opportunities and Challenges

Yogyakarta, June 3, 2025 – The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program hosted an online guest lecture on Agricultural Management and Economics via Zoom Meeting. This activity raised the theme “Indonesian and Global Macroeconomic Conditions: Opportunities and Challenges” by presenting Ikhlas, S.Si, as Equity Manager at Mandiri Manajemen Investasi (MMI), Bank Mandiri, as the main speaker.

This activity aims to enrich students’ understanding of the dynamics of the global and national economy, which continue to develop and become increasingly complex. The resource person explained the latest analysis from a macroeconomic perspective, both globally and domestically, as well as how global economic trends and risks can impact market stability, the real sector, and agricultural development in Indonesia. read more

Entrepreneurship Guest Lecture: Raising Natural Fibers as the Future of Sustainable Fashion Industry

Yogyakarta, June 3, 2025 – The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program again presents an inspiring learning experience through the Entrepreneurship Guest Lecture. Located in the MMA Auditorium, Building A10 Sosek 3rd Floor, this guest lecture discussed “Utilization of Natural Fibers for the Sustainable Fashion Industry.” It was attended by all students participating in entrepreneurship courses in the even semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year.
The guest speaker was Hari Agung Wicaksono, M.Pd, a fashion designer and owner of Hari Agung Kebaya, who has been actively developing fashion based on natural fibers and local wisdom. read more

Entrepreneurship Practicum EXPO 2025: Student Creativity Poured into Business Innovation

Yogyakarta, June 2, 2025—The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program has successfully held the Entrepreneurship Practicum EXPO 2025, which is part of the even-semester practicum activities for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. This activity aims to encourage students to develop an entrepreneurial spirit through the creation of products and businesses based on creative ideas relevant to the community’s needs.a

Twenty-two student groups of 3 to 5 people participated in this activity. Before the expo, participants compiled a Business Model Canvas (BMC), which was then realized in the form of real products and exhibited at the expo. The products were mainly processed foods and beverages, such as donuts, ice cream, fruit juice, and processed bananas. read more

The three students who officially completed their studies are:

Monitoring and Evaluation of MBKM Internship Students at Perum Perhutani

Yogyakarta, June 11, 2025 – As part of the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, carried out monitoring and evaluation activities for internship students at Perum Perhutani. In the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, five students from the UGM Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program participated in the internship program in two locations: two students at Perum Perhutani Headquarters (Jakarta) and three students at Perum Perhutani North Kedu Regional Division (Central Java). read more
