Yogyakarta, March 26, 2025 – Regina Claudia Setiawan, a student of the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program class of 2022 from Surabaya, managed to make the study program proud with her achievement as an Outstanding Student at the Faculty of Agriculture level. Since migrating to study at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Regina has adhered to her commitment: “Becoming an impactful person and making her parents proud.” Becoming an outstanding student has been Regina’s target since the beginning of college to test her writing, presentation, and understanding of the knowledge learned and its application in the real world.
Journey to Outstanding Student
In the Mapres event, Regina must prepare two main files, namely superior achievements or portfolios and creative ideas in the form of written works to be presented. During her three years of struggle in the academic world, she has collected various achievements, ranging from competitions, service, and publications to entrepreneurship.
Managing time is challenging for Regina, considering she must divide her focus between internships and other activities. “Time management is crucial, especially since brainstorming creative ideas is quite time-consuming,” she said. However, all her efforts paid off. She is grateful to have participated in service learning in Japan, which is recognized as international community service, and in insurance literacy competitions that she has participated in since she was a freshman.
Keys to Success: Time Management and Consistency
According to Regina, the biggest challenge is managing time effectively. “Dividing time into tables or lists is easy, but how we can divide our energy so that every task is done with maximum results is important,” she says. For him, the key to success is to stay calm, manage his time well, and always accompany his struggles with prayer.
He also advised other students to find their passion, be themselves, and be responsible for what they have started. “Fight consistently, and don’t forget to pray without stopping!” she added.
Focusing on the Future
As a final-year student, Regina focuses more on her academic responsibilities, namely completing her thesis, internship trial, and several other opportunities. With her achievements so far, she has become an inspiration for other students to continue to excel and have a positive impact on the surrounding environment. With more and more outstanding students like Regina, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program is increasingly showing its existence as a forum for prospective agricultural economists who are qualified and highly competitive. This achievement will continue and positively impact the academic world and the wider community.
Regina’s achievements reflect how courses in the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program equip students with academic knowledge, leadership skills, innovation, and community service. With various global challenges in the agricultural and economic sectors, students are encouraged to develop sustainable solutions that align with increasing productivity, food security, and farmers’ welfare.
