This study program was established in 1985. Initially, this study program had the name Socio-Economic Agriculture/Agribusiness. However, based on the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) assessment, the name changed to Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness. This name change is to make it easier for stakeholders so as not to confuse stakeholders.

The duration of the lectures taken by students is eight semesters with a total of 144-148 credit units (233.1-239.1 ECTS). Students’ final degree when they graduate is Bachelor of Agriculture (S.P.) or Bachelor in Agriculture.
