Finally, the long-awaited event is back! Postgraduate Program Registration for Even Semester Academic Year 2024/2025 Faculty of Agriculture UGM is Now Open. The programs opened include master’s programs and doctoral programs.

For prospective new students who are interested in the field of agricultural socio-economics, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics at UGM accepts new students for two master’s study programs, namely:

  1. Master of Agricultural Economics
  2. Master of Agribusiness Management

Graduation: Another chapter closed, a new one begins!

At the Period IV Undergraduate Program Graduation on August 28, 2024, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program succeeded in graduating 52 students with an average GPA of 3.80. The average study period for EPA Study Program graduates is 3 years, 11 months, 24 days. Six Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness students succeeded in receiving awards at the graduation.

Anna Tria Nita, S.P., from the class of 2020 received an award as the best graduate of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture. read more

Go beyond yourself, open opportunities, and enrich your experience with MBKM Mandiri

The independent campus program provides freedom for students to study outside campus through various activities, including Certified Independent Study and Internships (MSIB) and MBKM Mandiri. The program aims to provide experience and skills for students so they can organize their careers and be ready to face changes in the world outside campus. The UGM Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program also participates in the independent campus program, one of which is through MBKM Mandiri. This effort was made to support SDG Program Point 4 regarding quality education. The UGM Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program sends its best students to study and improve their skills at various companies for one semester. read more

Learning and Creating: Stories of MBKM Internships at Various Famous Institutions

The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program participates in the MBKM program to improve the quality of students’ abilities. It is hoped that the MBKM program will increase students’ experience, especially in the world of work. After running for one semester, it was time to withdraw students. The withdrawal of students marks the completion of the MBKM program. The implementation of the withdrawal of MBKM students from partner companies was colored by various stories.

The Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program partners with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs in the MBKM program. Experience working in the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs provides various knowledge and skills for students to work in a ministerial environment in Indonesia. read more

Graduation: Dream Big Embrace the Future

At the 3rd Undergraduate Program Graduation on May 22, 2024, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program succeeded in graduating 23 students with very satisfactory honors. The graduates came from the classes of 2018, 2019, and 2020. Three Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness students managed to receive awards at the graduation. Sania Sita Devi, S.P., from the class of 2020, received an award as the best graduate of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture. Salsabila Aulia Rahmadani, S.P., from the class of 2020, received an award as the best graduate of the UGM Agricultural Socioeconomic Department. Rizky Muhammad Aji Saputra, S. P., from the class of 2020, received an award as the fastest graduate of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture. read more

Embracing the Future: Thriving in a World Full of Opportunities

On Thursday, June 13, 2024, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program held a guest lecture on the Human Resources Management (HRM) course with the theme of opportunities and challenges in the world of work. The guest lecture invited as a resource person a psychology expert, namely Mrs. Swastika Wulan Pahlevi Nugroho Putri, S.Psi., M.Psi. The guest lecture was held in the MMA Auditorium and was attended by students participating in the HRM course. The guest lecture aims to introduce students to the realities of today’s world of work and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the world of work. This guest lecture is also a forum for students to ask questions and prepare themselves for the world of work. The guest lecture went smoothly. The students were very enthusiastic to pay attention and ask questions of the resource person. It is hoped that students will be helped by this guest lecture so that they can prepare themselves for the world of work and the future and achieve success. read more

Yogyakarta, May 4, 2024 A book review and dissemination event entitled “Myths vs. Facts: The Indonesian Palm Oil Industry in Global Social, Economic, and Environmental Issues, Fourth Edition” was successfully held on May 4, 2024, at the Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University. More precisely, this seminar was held at the Hardjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM.

This review seminar and book dissemination are the result of collaboration between the Gadjah Mada University Agricultural Socioeconomic Student Family (KMSEP) and the Palm Oil Agribusiness Strategic Policy Institute (PASPI), which is supported by the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS). read more

Exploring Agribusiness and the Competitiveness of Indonesian Cocoa: An Enlightening Guest Lecture

On March 19, 2024, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program held an event that was not only informative but also raised awareness of the important role of cocoa in the Indonesian economy. Through the Zoom platform, a guest lecture with the theme “Agribusiness and Competitiveness of Indonesian Cocoa” succeeded in attracting the attention of both students and the general public who are interested in the world of cocoa agribusiness.

In a session guided by an experienced moderator, Dr. Tedy Dirhamsyah, S.P., M.A.B. from the Research Institute for Industrial and Refreshment Crops, shared valuable knowledge about the cocoa industry in Indonesia. He opened the session by providing a comprehensive overview of the history of cocoa, the commodity’s mandate, and the importance of the germplasm collection held by the Agency for Standardization of Agricultural Instruments for Industrial and Refreshing Crops. read more

Dedication of the Study Program to the Guyub Farmer Group

On January 16, 2024, the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program (EPA Prodi) carried out a visit to the Guyub Farmer Group in Karangrejek, Wonosari, Gunung Kidul. This event was attended by various parties, including the Head of the Guyub Farmers Group, the Head of the Hamlet, the Wonosari Agricultural Extension Officer, the Head of the Study Program, and a number of EPA Study Program lecturers. The main purpose of this visit is to hand over assistance for agricultural production facilities as a form of service from universities to the community. read more

Partnership and Collaboration with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI)

On January 16, 2024, coordination of cooperation between the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program (EPA Prodi) and Bank Rakyat Indonesia Yogyakarta Special Regional Office (BRI Kanwil DIY) took place at the UGM Faculty of Agriculture. The meeting was attended by several lecturers from the EPA Study Program and representatives from the BRI DIY Regional Office. The main agenda for this meeting was to discuss plans for implementing Independent Campus-Based Internships (MBKM) for EPA Study Program students within the BRI DIY Regional Office. The aim of this internship is to provide students with practical experience in the banking sector, with the hope of expanding their knowledge and skills. Apart from that, this meeting was also directed at expanding cooperation between universities and the industrial sector, facing future labor market challenges, especially due to the Industrial Revolution 5.0. With this collaboration, it is hoped that students can achieve positive benefits, such as gaining a practical understanding of work in the financial sector, increasing their career readiness in this field, and expanding the network of connections between students, universities, and the industrial sector. Overall, it is hoped that this collaboration will not only provide academic benefits for students but also support the growth of the financial sector in a sustainable and effective manner. read more
